Travel began as an enjoyable way of relaxing and disconnecting with concerns at home. Travel soon became a passion. Our assumptions about the world are challenged when we face different cultures and new experiences.
Michael bring the organizational experience of professional consulting work with a variety of non-profits including the YMCA, Stanford University, Shelter Network, the Core Social Services Agencies of San Mateo County, and El Centro de Libertad. Michael currently serves as Past President of the Woodside Terrace A.M. Kiwanis Club and the Woodside Terrace A.M. Kiwanis Foundation and Lt. Governor Designate of Division 34 of CalNevHa District of Kiwanis International.
Michael Akana is certified by the Cruise Line Industry Association (CLIA) as an Elite Cruise Counselor (ECC), having completed the Master Cruise Counselor (MCC) and Accredited Cruise Counselor (ACC) program. He was one of CLIA’s first Luxury Cruise Specialist (LCS). Michael is a Certified Travel Associate (CTA), a Hawaii Certified Destination Specialist (CDL) and Luxury Lifestyle Specialist (LS) with the Travel Institute. He is also a Certified Niche Cruise Specialist (CNCS) by the Niche Cruise Marketing Alliance Niche Cruise Marketing Alliance (NCMA).
